Choosing a Therapist

“I’m new to therapy or to Seattle. How do I decide on a Seattle therapist who is right for me with so many choices?”

Step One: Learn about a variety of Seattle Therapists and their approaches to Psychotherapy.

In my case, see if you connect with my style of working. It’s not for everyone. Finding the right fit is of the utmost importance. For more in depth information about my approach to psychotherapy, click here. You can also learn more about me by clicking here.

Step Two: Learn about the people with whom Therapists in Seattle have worked.

If you seem to find comfort in my approach in particular, take a look at how I talk about my psychotherapy clients, and their depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, occupational challenges, crises of change, and searches for meaning by clicking here.

Step Three: Financial planning for Psychotherapy or working with a Seattle Therapist.

The cost of living in Seattle is high. That includes the cost of obtaining psychotherapy from a licensed clinical psychologist. Coming to a licensed therapist in a place like Seattle is a significant investment in your good health, your relationships, and your quality of life. If you intend to use your health insurance to help defray the cost of psychotherapy, take a look at my FAQ page. Of course, feel free to call me at my Fremont office, which is just north of Downtown Seattle at 206-801-3214.

Step Four: Most Psychologists, Mental Health Counselors and Therapists in Seattle offer free telephone consultations or initial sessions.

As a member of the Seattle Therapist Community, I follow a similar practice. Call me at 206-801-3214 to schedule your free consultation. Think of it as a test drive. The quality of our connection will be the most important part of our success together in psychotherapy. Let’s make sure there is a good fit, so your experience is the best it can be.

Step Five: Schedule an appointment and complete intake forms.

If you decide to give therapy with me a try, let’s schedule your first appointment. Prior to coming in to the office, please download and complete the forms located here to give us an administrative head start, so we can get right to the important work. I also provide a Google Map of my Fremont Office location just North of Downtown Seattle, near the University District, Queen Anne, Greenlake, Phinney Ridge, and Ballard.  As freeway access is convenient, I also serve many clients from the Eastside as well as areas further north and south of the city.
